I have been running a class each week at Leathley since September 2008. I provide all the equipment: mats, cushions, balls of various types and sizes, toning circles, and bands.
I teach classes of up to 10 people and take one to one classes often in peoples sitting room or kitchen!
Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) created this method of exercises to build strength, without adding bulk, and balanced with strength and flexibility.
I am a Body Control Pilates teacher and work to a code of practice that governs teaching standards and professional ethics. I hold valid insurance and CPR certification. I teach the movement skills step-by-step which will ultimately give you strength and flexibility you need to perform the more advanced Classical Pilates exercises. Our focus is not only reaching the range of exercises but how to teach them well and to adapt them to suit each client. When people join a class, they are required to complete an enrolment form, so I can have a record of any injuries or conditions so that I can ensure they exercise safely.
I am required to do a minimum of 4 full-days training courses usually held in London each year. Courses I have recently attended are: Standing Pilates, Advanced Matwork, Pilates with the Foam Roller, Small Ball and Toning Circle, Pilates for the Older Person and Low Back Pain (Level 4).
I have done a case study and further studies and assessments on becoming a Registered Level 3 Older Person Pilates Teacher, and have now gained my Level 3 qualification in Bone Health.
